On Monday, Red River County Sheriff Jim Caldwell recognized three jailers with Life Saving Awards for their efforts in saving two inmates.
Branden Carrasco, Keisha Jackson, and Kalie Smith were presented with a Letter of Commendation Life Saving Award during Commissioners Court.
Caldwell said there were two incidents in which an inmate attempted to take their life, and because of the jailer’s quick response, both inmate’s lives were saved.
“The quick response, recognition of the severity of the medical emergency, and immediate actions resulted in saving the life of a Red River County Jail Inmate. A failure to act or action after delay could have led to a tragic outcome,” said Sheriff Caldwell. “I feel like these jailers went above and beyond, and it’s good to have jailers like this.”
