Throughout the year, Paris EMS raised almost $9,000 with their ‘Fill The Boot’ campaign and starting today they’ll be at Walmart collecting money for next Christmas.

Money raised by Paris EMS stays in Lamar County with $500 in gifts each being distributed to Child Advocacy CenterCasa For Kids Red River ValleyLamar County Head Start, and Paris Pregnancy Center.

“All the money we raised stays in Lamar County,” said B-Shift Supervisor Russell Thrasher. “For a lot of children locally, this is all they get and it feels good to be able to help those kids that wouldn’t get something otherwise.”

Paris EMS has been raising money for local charities through their ‘Fill The Boot’ campaign for over 25 years.

“Anyone who donates when they see out at the entrances of Walmart with our boots can rest assured that money goes back into the community, not only in donations to charities but we also buy locally.”

Early this morning, medics hit the pavement at the entrances of Walmart and plan to collect money through Saturday; rain or shine.

“Money that we raise now will go towards our 2019 campaign and giving back next Christmas,” said Thrasher.
