Press release from Paris ISD Superintendent, Paul Jones
Happy New Year. I hope you were able to enjoy quality time during the recent holiday break, and I hope your child had a successful return to school. As the new semester begins, PISD continues to implement safe school COVID protocols.
The Paris Lamar County Health District reports a steep spike in COVID cases in our area. Local health officials state that while many who are vaccinated are being infected, vaccinations are thought to contribute to the reduced severity of this surge.
PISD will continue to strongly encourage mask-wearing, social distancing when possible, and frequent hand washing.
Paris ISD is awaiting additional guidance from TEA. Until then, we will continue with our current quarantine guidelines for COVID positive students. We courage anyone that is feeling sick to not attend schools and to seek medical attention for guidance if it persists.
Again, I wish you safe, healthy and prosperous 2022. Your past, present, and future contributions to the health and safety of our learning community are helping our students and teachers navigate a very challenging time in our world’s history.
I thank you for being such a valuable part of what we do.
Paul Jones
Superintendent – Paris Independent School District
