Forget the roses and chocolate, nothing says “I love you” more than a pickle bouquet.
Boston-based company Grillo’s Pickle is credited with making the bouquets famous saying, “pickle bouquets are more beautiful than roses, healthier than a standard box of chocolate, and are far more creative.”
And while fully arranged bouquets can’t be ordered from Grillo’s this year, if you are a crafty person, they are simple enough to create.
Here is an essential guide of how to make your loved one a pickle bouquet this Valentine’s Day.
- Container Jar
- Pickles, and you can be creative in the type of pickles because remember this is what this bouquet is all about.
- Peppers (if you are looking for a splash of color and some spice)
- Wooden skewers
- Floral foam
- Floral tissue paper
- Some necessary decorative pieces like Baby’s Breath, Dusty Miller, Heather, Italian Ruscus, or perhaps Mertyle, to name a few.
- You can also delve into some delicious extras like mozzarella balls or cherry tomatoes.
Wrap your floral tissue around the bottom of the foam cylinder. Then place the foam cylinder and tissue in your container or vase. You want to skewer a variety of pickles and extras then and set aside.
Next, arrange skewers in the foam at varying heights and garnish with fresh dill or artificial greenery. To deliver your bouquet in one piece, place finished bouquet in a cellophane bag and tie with a ribbon. Finally, it’s time to share with your sweetie!
Grillo’s Pickles does have a pickle bouquet kit online (not an arranged bouquet), or you can simply try your hand at building a one of a kind bouquet at home.
