Skate Zone in Paris, which abruptly closed in January, is set to reopen under a new name with new ownership in May 2019.

Furthermore, the much-anticipated NETS – Northeast Texas Sports Complex will now be built on the 17-acres of land behind the current Skate Zone complex.

Local businessman, Skyler Burchinal recently purchased the beloved family fun center and plans on revamping the entire complex just in time for summer.

“We’re very excited about re-opening the entire complex and being able to once again offer families in Lamar County a family-friendly place to make memories,” said Burchinal.

Not only will the skating rink be open to the public every weekend but the putt-putt golf course, batting cages, and go-kart track will also be fully-functioning once again.

“We will be reconditioning the entire complex with fresh paint, a new waterfall system in the mini golf area, new putters, updated batting equipment and the go-kart track will be redone with nine new go-karts,” explained Burchinal.

And if that’s not enough to get locals excited, the addition of NETS complex and a Ninja-Warrior type course should.

NETS is the dream of brothers, Skyler and Spencer who both desire to make Paris bigger and better for generations to come.

“NETS is a 40,000 sq. ft. complex that will feature a regulation-sized indoor soccer field, two regulation-sized dual purpose basketball and volleyball courts, as well as three sand volleyball fields and two more soccer fields outside.”

The indoor facility will be available to rent for private events and will also have a concession stand and a small sporting shop.

By combining the two complexes, Burchinal hopes to offer more to families not only on the weekends but also in the way of after-school care.

“Monday to Friday we will offer an after-school care program which will include access to all the amenities on the property and we will be adding a cheer program with Coach Amanda Phillips which will include private cheer lessons also.”

In addition to all the multiplex will offer, Burchinal said the facility will be available for rent for private and regular parties.

“We want parents to also have fun nights out so plan on hosting adults-only nights which will be BYOB.”

Burchinal is looking to finalize the purchase of Skate Zone within coming weeks and construction on the facility is expected to begin shortly after and be open by May 1st.

NETS is expected to open by the fall of 2019.

“Our main goal is to offer a safe, family-friendly fun park to everyone in Lamar County and surrounding areas,” said Burchinal. “We will be open to the public every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and will always have security on-site to keep everyone safe.”

Job opportunities will be available with as many as 15 new employees needed. Those interested in employment can send their resume to 13.01 NW Loop 286, Paris, Texas, 75460.
