On Sept. 23, officers received information of narcotics trafficking in the area of the 500 block of NE 6th St. The suspect was named as Ricky Glen Walters (64). During the investigation it was learned that Walters was wanted on four warrants from Tarrant County. A search warrant was obtained for Walters’ residence to secure the arrest. Officers of the Paris Police Department and Lamar County Sheriff’s Department served the warrant. During the arrest, narcotics paraphernalia was observed in plain view. Officers obtained a secondary warrant to search the premises for further narcotics and located narcotics and paraphernalia indicating the packaging and sale of the drugs. A firearm was also located in the residence. Walters had a felony conviction in June of 2024 and cannot legally possess a firearm. He was charged with the Tarrant County Warrants for Agg Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, Fail to give ID, and Possession of Controlled Substance. On the results of the Paris search warrant Walters was charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Walters was booked and placed in jail without further incident.
On Sept. 23, the department was notified of a Theft by Check which had occurred. The reporting party advised that some unknown person had cashed a check on their business account in the amount of $2,380.00. They did not know the person passing the check but advised the suspects had attempted to cash another check which was rejected. The reporting party advised that after the incidents they noticed that a check book had been stolen from their vehicle. The bank was notified and the investigation is ongoing.
Officers made 14 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 101 calls for service during this reporting period.
