Friday, September 13, 2024; Officers contacted James Octavius Jeffery (52) in the 400 block of SE 6th while speaking with Jeffery, the officers requested consent for a search of his person. Jeffery consented and officers recovered a cigarette pack from his front pocket which contained what appeared to be methamphetamine. As officers questioned Jeffery about the substance, he snatched the cigarette pack and substance from the officers hand and fled on foot. Jeffery was pursued on foot and then taken into custody. The substance in the cigarette package tested positive for methamphetamine. Jeffery was injured during his arrest and was given first aid treatment on the scene. An ambulance was called and Jeffery was transported to PRMC where he was treated and released into officers custody. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Evading Arrest.
Friday, September 13, 2024; Paris Police Officers were notified of the theft of a vehicle from the 500 block of NE 1st. The victim advised that someone unknown person had loaded his vehicle, a 2005 Mercury, blue in color, onto a trailer and towed it away. The vehicle was taken on September 9, 2024 according to a witness. The vehicle had not been repossessed according to the victim, and he had given no one permission to take it. The vehicle was entered into NCIC computer and the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force was advised of the theft.
Officers made 7 traffic stops, 4 adult arrest, and answered 129 calls for service for this reporting period.
