On Saturday morning, October 5, 2026, at approximately 3:12 a.m., Paris Police Department officers were patrolling in the 1500 block of East Polk when they made contact with two individuals walking in the area.
Officers identified both individuals and conducted a records check. One of the individuals was found to have an active parole warrant. When officers attempted to take the individual into custody, he fled on foot.
After a brief foot pursuit, officers apprehended the suspect and placed him under arrest. He was initially arrested for the outstanding parole warrant and Evading Arrest or Detention.
The suspect was transported to jail for processing. During the booking process, a records check revealed the suspect had previous convictions for evading arrest. Based on those prior convictions, the suspect was additionally charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Convictions, a felony offense.
The suspect was booked into the Lamar County Jail without further incident.
Officers made 64 traffic stops, made 10 adult arrest, and answered 196 calls for service during this reporting period.
