On Oct. 24, at about 8:15 a.m., dispatch received a report of a stolen trailer in the 3100 block of Lamar Avenue. The victim told the responding officer that he had borrowed a trailer from friends to transport car engines, transmissions, and other parts valued at over $20,000. A Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force detective from the Paris Police Department also responded to the call. The trailer was located, and it was determined that one of the trailer owners had picked it up. The contents of the trailer were returned to the victim, who did not wish to pursue charges because his property had been recovered.
On Oct. 25, An officer was dispatched to an office in the 4300 block of Bonham Street at approximately 7:55 a.m., regarding a person on-site believed to have a warrant for her arrest. The officer made contact with Gabrielle Monet Hilburn (18), who was placed under arrest for Burglary of Habitation after dispatch confirmed the warrant. She was transported to the Paris City Jail and booked in without incident.
On Oct. 25, shortly after noon on Saturday, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of NW 27 Street. During the stop, the driver identified himself as Dakota Cole Ellis (25) and told the officer he had no insurance or a valid driver’s license. The officer also determined that the car’s registration was expired. When Ellis exited the vehicle so it could be towed, Ellis gave the officer permission to search him, and a controlled substance was located in one of his pockets. Ellis was placed in custody, transported to the Paris Police Department, and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
On Oct. 26, about 9:30 a.m., Sunday, an officer responded to a stolen vehicle call in which the caller was following the car. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the 2800 block of Bonham Street. The driver, later identified as Jamal Arkel Hurd (20), gave a false name to the officer. Once determined actually to be Hurd, dispatch confirmed warrants for his arrest for Burglary of Habitation, Minor in Possession of Tobacco, and Assault. Hurd was arrested for Fail to ID Fugitive Intent and the warrants. The car was found not to be stolen, as the owner had permitted Hurd to operate it. It was released to a family member of the owner.
On Oct. 26, at 1:48 p.m., Sunday, an officer reported to the 300 block of NE 11 Street regarding an assault report. The female complainant told the officer that during an argument, her boyfriend had knocked her down, hit her, attempted to choke her, and then left the scene. She also said she had bitten her boyfriend on his chest during the incident. The officer observed marks on the girlfriend that she said were from the altercation. The woman told the officer she wanted the boyfriend to be trespassed from the location. The officer later met with the boyfriend at his residence and included his version of the incident in the report. The officer observed a mark on the boyfriend’s chest where he said he had been bitten. The boyfriend was given notice that he was being criminally trespassed from the girlfriend’s location and was told not to return. The report was forwarded to detectives for further investigation.
On Oct. 26, just before 6 p.m., Sunday, an officer responded to a call for service at Paris Regional Health. While on the scene, dispatch advised the officer of a patient causing a disturbance in the Emergency Room area. After assisting with the disturbance, the officer was completing paperwork when Charles Eugene Dawson (61), a family member of the patient, began interfering with the situation. Dawson did not comply with lawful orders to stop interfering, and the officer attempted to move Dawson away from the patient. After a scuffle, including Dawson trying to choke the officer, Dawson was handcuffed and placed under arrest for Assault of a Peace Officer and other charges.
Officers made 50 traffic stops, 13 adult arrests, and answered 181 calls for service during this reporting period.
