On Oct. 16, Officers stopped a vehicle for multiple equipment violations in the 2400 block of Bonham St. They made contact with the driver, Gavin Craig Anderson (17), of Roxton Texas. A warrant check revealed that Andeson was wanted on an outstanding warrant for Burglary of a Building in Upshur County. Anderson was placed under arrest and was processed without incident and taken to county jail.
On Oct. 16, Officers received information that a vehicle with a stolen license plate was in the area of the 3000 block of N. Main St. The vehicle was located and stopped. The driver, Brooklyn Leeann Bennet (37),and a passenger, Charles Edward Eubanks (45) both of Mississippi were identified and detained. Officers observed an open container of an alcoholic beverage in the vehicle. A search revealed further alcoholic beverages and numerous prescription narcotics for which neither of the subjects had prescriptions. Marijuana and THC vape products were also located in the vehicle. Both subjects denied knowledge of the stolen license plate. Bennett was charged with five counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as Possession of Marijuana. Bennett advised the narcotics were hers and that Eubanks was unaware of them. Eubanks was charged with Possession of Marijuana as it was found to be in his possession. Both were booked without incident and transferred to Lamar County Jail.
On Oct. 16, Officers were summoned to the District Parole Office in the 3900 block of N. Main in regards to a warrant. They took Ivan Dewey Harold Metzke Jr (36) into custody on an outstanding Parole Violation warrant for Sexual Assault. Metzke was booked and placed in jail.
On Oct. 16, an officer made contact with Renah Cherye Sims (61) of Paris in the 200 block of NW 4th St. and arrested her on outstanding warrants for Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information as well as False Statement to Law Enforcement. These charges are the result of an earlier investigation in which it is alleged that Sims illegally used a credit card belonging to a patient that she was a healthcare provider for. Sims then used an assumed name during the investigation resulting in the False Statement to Peace Officer charge. She was arrested without incident.
Officers made 16 traffic stops, 6 adult arrest, and answered 133 calls for service during this reporting period.
