On Nov. 14, the department received a call of a disturbance occurring in the 400 block of SE 14th. The caller advised that his wife had struck him with a hammer. Officers responded and located the suspect, Ramona Shaunta Tyson (44) in the residence with the victim. Both victim and suspect appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The two were still in a heated argument and Tyson was in possession of a hammer. The hammer was removed from Tyson’s area. Officers separated the two in an attempt to de-escalate the incident. The verbal argument started again officers attempted to detain Tyson in handcuffs for the safety of all present. As officers attempted to handcuff Tyson, she began resisting and struck one of the officers in the face. Tyson was physically secured and handcuffed. She was charged with Assault of a Public Servant and Resisting Arrest. Both the victim and a witness present refused to cooperate with the investigation at that time. Tyson was taken to jail.
On Nov. 14, the department received a report of fraud. The victim advised that since September of 2024, some unknown person or persons has withdrawn over $40,000.00 from her bank account. The suspect has made purchases through door dash, Amazon, Gaming accounts, and other online entities. The investigation will be conducted by Paris Police Criminal Investigations Division.
