Paris Police responded to a disturbance in the 200 block of SE 16th St at 4:59 P.M. on May 16, 2022. Officers made contact with 32 year old Mark Gregory Evans, of Garland, Texas, who told the officer that he had outstanding warrants. Evans was found to have an outstanding parole violation warrant and two Municipal Court warrants. During the arrest, Evans was found to be in possession of a vape pen. Evans admitted to the officer that the contents contained THC oil. Evans was charged with possession of a controlled substance. He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a cruelty to animal call in the 2200 block of W Cherry St at 5:27 P.M. on May 16, 2022. Officers spoke with witnesses who advised that a white male had hit a brown Pitt Bulldog in the head with a hammer. Officers located the dog and found that the dog did have a small amount of blood on his head and nose. Officers were not able to locate the suspect but did confiscate the dog and placed it in the City of Paris Animal Shelter. The investigation continues.
