Friday, March 24, 2023 @ 4:31pm: Paris Officer observed a vehicle pass by his location and observed a female passenger not wearing a seat belt. A traffic stop was initiated in the 1000 block of Bonham Street and contact was made with the driver. Passenger 42-YearOld Edye Katherine Travland of Paris was taken into custody and booked into the Paris Jail for Possession of a Controlled Substance, after claiming ownership of a zipper sunglasses case; containing a baggie with a clear crystal like substance, testing positive for Methamphetamine.
Friday, March 24, 2023 @ 6:00pm: Paris Police Officer took a report of an Assault Against an Elderly or Disable Individual in the 100 block of SE 47th Street, from an elderly patient claiming to have been assaulted by a staff member. The incident will be investigated.
Friday, March 24, 2023 @ 7:08pm: Paris Dispatch received a call from a caller in the 1400 block of West Washington Street; who stated that a male, wearing a blue jumpsuit, riding a bicycle; pulled a 9mm pistol on him. In the general area, Paris Officer made contact with an individual that owned a mountain style bicycle and was wearing similar clothing as had been described. Subject did not have a gun nor any kind of weapon on him at the time of officer contact and denied being in any type of altercation. An offense of an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon will be investigated.
Friday, March 24, 2023 @ 11:20pm: Several Paris Police Officers responded to a motor vehicle accident in the 2700 block of North Main Street; wherein a male driver was reported to have fled the scene. 40-Year-Old John Mark Semple of Deport was located inside a Truck Stop in the 3200 block of North Main Street; on a phone speaking with Paris Dispatch. Semple admitted to being the driver & stated that the other occupants in the vehicle had attacked him, causing the accident. Semple was sweating profusely, had glassy and bloodshot eyes & smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. Semple refused to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests on scene. Two occupants in the vehicle had received broken bones. Semple was placed under arrest for 2 counts of Intoxication Assault with Vehicle Seriously Body Injury.
Saturday, March 25, 2023 @ 00:19am: After responding to a Criminal Trespass call in the 100 block of SE 17th Street; A Paris Officer took a Felony Stalking Report to be investigated, along with several prior reported Criminal Trespass and Harassment reports at the same location; wherein a known suspects continues to drive by and harass the victim.
Saturday, March 25, 2023 @ 8:03am: Paris Officer responded to the 2400 block of North Main Street to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot, with an unknown male asleep in a vehicle and suspected to have been at the location throughout the night. Contact was made with 56-Year-Old Jeffrey Scott Gibson of Paris, who was asleep in the front driver’s seat with the window down. Consent search lead Gibson to the Paris Jail for a charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance after Methamphetamine was located in the vehicle.
Saturday, March 25, 2023 @ 12:24pm: Paris Officer initiated consensual contact with a male subject, in the 700 block of Bonham Street. The subject identified himself as 47-YearOld Samuel Vernon Taylor of Paris. Taylor was checked through dispatch and return wanted for an outstanding Parole Violation Warrant-Possession Controlled Substance less than one gram. Taylor was transported to the Paris Jail and booked.
Saturday, March 25, 2023 @ 9:02pm: While a Paris Officer was patrolling; he observed a blue Nissan with no third brake light and conducted a traffic stop in the 1800 block East Cherry Street. Contact was made with Driver, 34-Year-Old April Tametra Cawvey of Paris, who had an active Class “C” warrant from Paris Municipal Court. During a consensual search of the vehicle; Marijuana and a clear rock-like substance, testing positive for methamphetamine were located. Cawvey was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana and the Class C Warrant.
Sunday, March 26, 2023 @ 1:18pm: A victim spoke with a Paris Officer and stated that he parked his 2013 GMC Duramax in a parking lot in the 3500 block of NE Loop 286 on March 25 and returned today to discover it missing. He stated that the doors do not lock and he had left the key in the center cup holder. The vehicle was later recovered in Red River County.
Sunday, March 26, 2023 @ 7:20pm: Paris Dispatch received a call from a caller that was following a recklessly driving vehicle and stated that the vehicle was now pulling into a residential drive in the 900 block of Tudor Street. Officer arrived timely to observe the vehicle attempting to back out of the driveway. Officer made contact with 44-Year-Old Deven Margaret Hickson of Detroit, who had the smell of an alcoholic beverage emitting from her breath, slurred speech and red-glossy eyes. Hickson performed poorly during the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. With 4 prior convictions on her criminal history; she was booked into the Paris Jail for Driving While Intoxicated 3rd Or More.
Sunday, March 26, 2023 @ 10:07pm: Paris Officer was dispatched to a disturbance in the 400 block of Grand Avenue and made contact with a large group of people in the parking lot that were screaming and pointing at a subject (who was quickly trying to enter a building); stating that she has a gun and had pointed it at them. Officer made his way into the building and make contact with 41-Year-Old Damaris Nacole Johnson of Paris, who was observed to have a gun in the front of her waistband. Without incident, Johnson was taken into custody and booked into the Paris Jail for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. A report of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon was also taken to be investigated with multiple
victims.
Friday, March 24, 2023 through Sunday, March 26, 2023: The Paris Police Department responded to 203 Calls for Service and arrested 16 adult persons.
