Friday, March 10, 2023 at 11:18am: A home, under construction for Habitat for Humanity in the 700 Block of Polk Street was burglarized. The Site Supervisor advised the Officer that when he arrived at the location, the front and back doors were closed and locked; but a back bedroom window was unlocked. The suspect apparently entered through the window and left through the back door, taking a red Milwaukee router, a toolbox, ladders, copper tubing and other items; all with a total value of $1,260 dollars. Finger prints were lifted from the window.
Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:24pm: Paris Police Officer stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of NW Loop 286 after observing the vehicle failing to signal a turn and failing to drive in a single lane in the 2300 block of North Main Street. When 65-Year-Old William Gregory Green of Paris was requested to exit his vehicle; the officer observed a clear baggie with a crystal-like substance sitting in plain view in the driver seat, which tested positive for methamphetamine. Green was arrested and booked into the Paris Jail for Possession of Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1>=1g<4g.
Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:59pm: 47-Year-Old Jerry David Long of Roxton was observed walking in the 10 block of the West Plaza by a Paris Police Officer. Long was checked and confirmed through Dispatch for active warrants. Long was stopped in the 10 block of North Main Street. Upon beginning to place Long into handcuffs; he began to reach for his front right pocket. A small black leather pouch containing both clear empty baggies and clear baggies with a clear crystal substance, testing positive for Methamphetamine were located in his pocket. Long was booked into the Paris Jail for Manufacture Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >=4G<200G and two Class C Warrants.
Friday, March 10, 2023 at 7:02pm: Paris Police Officer spoke with a victim of a Fraud in the Police Department Lobby, who advised that she recently switched cell phone companies to AT&T. Part of AT&T’s promotion included receiving 5 separate debit cards; each loaded with $250 dollars. She received 4 of the 5 debit cards; however the 5th card was never received. AT&T advised that the 5th card was mailed on 02/16/2023 and had been used on 02/20/2023 for the full amount of $250.00 at a Men’s Lounge in Clover City, California. The incident will be investigated.
Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 9:16am: Paris Dispatch received a Burglary-in Progress Call in the 600 block of SE 5th Street. Upon Officers arrival, he met two victims sitting in a vehicle, who advised that the known suspect had just driven away. Nor the suspect or his vehicle was located in the general area. Officer observed a muddy shoe print on the exterior of the front door. The suspect had taken a phone from one victim during her call with Dispatch. The suspect had picked up a concrete landscaping paver from the flower bed and had struck one victim’s vehicle with it multiple times. Investigators will invest a Burglary of Habitation, Interference with Emergency Request for Assistance and a Criminal Mischief Offense.
Friday, March 10, 2023 through Sunday, March 12, 2023: The Paris Police Department responded to 201 Calls for Service and arrested 11 adult person.
