On June 5, Officers responded to a shoplifting call at a local business in the 2300 block of N. Main Street. Through a review of security footage, officers identified the suspect and later conducted a traffic stop. The suspect was subsequently arrested by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges. Due to prior theft convictions, the suspect will also be charged with Theft of Property Under $2,500 with Two or More Previous Convictions in connection with this incident.
On June 6, Officers responded to the 1700 block of Lamar Avenue regarding a burglary of a business. Upon arrival, officers determined that an unknown suspect had forcibly entered the business and caused damage to multiple areas of the property. The investigation is ongoing.
On June 6, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1300 block of Bonham Street. Upon arrival, officers found that several individuals had been assaulted, including one victim who sustained serious injuries after being struck with a crowbar. The incident remains under investigation.
On June 7, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling the wrong way in the 3500 block of NE Loop 286. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, officers located THC vape pens and methamphetamine. The driver was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, 4 Grams or More but Less Than 200 Grams, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, 1 Gram or More but Less Than 4 Grams.
During this reporting period, officers conducted 53 traffic stops, made 8 adult arrests, and responded to 195 calls for service.
