On June 4, Officers were patrolling in the 1700 block of E. Booth when they observed Curtis Ray Gentry (47) who they knew to have outstanding warrants. When contacted by the officers Gentry refused to obey lawful orders and resisted arrest by striking one of the officers with his fist in the face. Gentry was forcibly taken into custody and charged with Assault to a Peace Officer, Resisting Arrest and the initial warrants which he was contacted about.
On June 4, Officers responded to a report of Burglary of a Business in the 800 block of SE 24th. An unknown suspect entered a storage building and stole metal doors as well as aluminum and other metal products sometime between 0830 on June 3 and noon on June 4. The case is under investigation.
On June 4, Officers with the NE Texas Auto Theft Task Force, assisted by Paris Police, Lamar County Deputies and Lamar County Constables recovered a stolen vehicle reported out of Greenville Texas. The suspect, a juvenile, was detained and transported to a detention facility.
On June 5, Cody Wayne Shaw (43) Of Paris was arrested on an outstanding warrant for Probation Violation on a previous charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was taken into custody in the 4300 block of Bonham St and booked without incident.
Officers made 24 traffic stops, 9 adult arrest, and answered 191 calls for service for this reporting period.
