On June 14, Officers performed a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Hubbard Street due to an expired registration. They identified the driver was identified as Katherine Ruth Jason (51). Jason was found to have an active warrant out of Red River County for the charge of Tampering with Written Evidentiary Report, a felony. She was arrested on the warrant and processed without incident.
On June 15, Officers and other Emergency Services personnel responded to a vehicle crash in the 3700 block of Clarksville St. It was established that a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle, ridden by the victim, had struck a guardrail and crashed. The 24 year old victim was found to be deceased as a result of injuries received in the crash. A witness in the area at the time of the incident advised that no other vehicles were observed in the area. The Paris Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team were notified and responded to the scene for accident reconstruction. Family members were notified and the investigation is underway.
On June 15, Officers responded to an assault call in the 2200 block of Jackson St. They met the victim, who advised that she had been assaulted by a known suspect at an unknown location on Campbell St. The victim had been struck in the face by the suspect when she asked her to stop sitting on her vehicle. Suspect had struck the victim and then kicked the vehicle, leaving a footprint on the car. The victim had a recent surgical procedure and was unable to fight back. The case was filed as an injury to a disabled individual due to this. Officers attempted to locate the known suspect or the location of the attack but were unsuccessful on both counts. The case is under investigation.
