On July 17, Officers located a wanted subject, Benjamin William Brister (45) in the 1700 block of Bonham St. Brister was observed entering a store in the 1700 block of Bonham St. After Brister exited the store, he was contacted by a uniformed officer in a marked unit. Brister immediately fled on foot, throwing property that was in his possession as he ran. He was pursued and eventually captured in the 1800 block of Maple St. Brister resisted arrest by pulling away and refusing to allow officers to handcuff him. After he was subdued, Brister was escorted back to a patrol vehicle where he told officers that he had stolen property from the store he had just exited. Brister was charged with Evading Arrest or Detention, Theft of Property (Class B), and a Delta County warrant for Criminal Trespassing. He was booked without further problems.
On July 17, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1600 block of N. Main for an equipment violation. The driver was identified as Tasha Denise Kyle (41). Kyle was found to be wanted on two warrants for Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was arrested without incident.
On July 17, Officers and Emergency Medical Personnel responded to the 10 block of NW 23rd in regards a shooting. They arrived and met with a crowd of individuals including a 61 year old victim who advised officers that Randyael Dontrell Tyson (34) had shot the victim. Paris EMS began treating the victim who had one gunshot wound to an extremity. Officers were able to establish that a disturbance had occurred at the residence and during the ensuing melee, Tyson had displayed a handgun, made threats, and eventually fired one shot, striking he victim, who is a family member of the suspect. The victim was transported for medical care. Tyson was placed under arrest for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and booked into the city jail. Paris Criminal Investigators are still currently in the process of obtaining evidence and processing the crime scene.
On July 17, Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Bonham St in regards to a sexual assault. The victim and a witness advised that a known suspect had come to the residence and had been admitted by the witness. The suspect then went to the victim, who was asleep and sexually assaulted them. Officers collected evidence and the case is under investigation.
Officers made 17 traffic stops, 6 adult arrest, and answered 109 calls for service during this reporting period
