On July 16, Officers arrested Kayla Nicole Clavier (19) after receiving a call in the 1400 block of Bonham St that unknown persons were in a complainant’s back yard. Upon arrival officers observed Clavier leaving the back yard. Once contact was made, it was obvious to officers that Clavier was under the influence of some narcotic. Clavier admitted to having used narcotics earlier in the evening. Clavier was a danger to herself and others as she was incoherent and talking to individuals who were not present. She was arrested for Public Intoxication. During booking it was noted that Clavier had numerous recent arrest for Public Intoxication. Her charge was enhanced to Public Intoxication with 3 prior convictions. She was booked and taken to Lamar County Jail.
On July 15, Officers arrested Toby Emberson McMurry on a NISI warrant for a 2024 Burglary of Residence after locating him in the 300 block of 14th NW. He was placed into custody and transported without incident. The arrest stemmed from a 2034 incident in which McMurray pushed a window unit air conditioner out of a window and pepper sprayed the occupants of a room (family members). He was initially arrested on the date of the incident but failed to comply on the restrictions placed with his bond.
On July 14, Officers responded to a disturbance call in the 600 block of W. Kaufman St. They arrived and were flagged down by witnesses. They located Jeremey Dean Morgan (38) in the back yard of the residence. Upon making contact with Morgan they found that he had obvious injuries to his face and was intoxicated. Morgan claimed that a subject, later determined to be the victim of an assault, had bitten his tongue. Morgan advised his facial injuries were from a previous uninvolved incident. Officers contacted the female victim who advised that she and Morgan had been arguing when he struck her several times in the face with his fist. She began screaming for help and Morgan choked her for approximately a minute, preventing her from screaming or drawing breath. The victim had marks substantiating her story. Witnesses advised that Morgan commonly hits himself. Morgan was secured in a patrol vehicle at which time he began banging his head and face against the shielding in the back seat of the patrol unit. He was transported to the department and booked. A protective order was requested on behalf of the victim.
On July 15, a report was received of a Credit Card Abuse. The victim misplaced her credit card on July 8, 2025. She locked the card account after realizing the card was missing. Later that day someone attempted to use the card at a local business in the 1800 block of Lamar. Officers contacted the business and received suspect information. The case is under investigation.
Officers made 10 traffic stops, 9 adult arrest, and answered 117 calls for service during this reporting period.
