On July 11, the department received a report of a Burglary of Residence in the 10 block of NW 27th. The victim advised he had been in the hospital for the past two months and when he arrived home he discovered that his residence had been burglarized and he was missing medication, two lawnmowers, an electric chain saw, a Coleman Mini-Bike, a television, and a 1999 Harley Soft Tail motorcycle. The victim advised he knew who had taken the mini bike but was unsure of the rest of the property. The thief made entry through the front door. Officers made contact with the suspect who admitted to taking the mini bike. The case is under investigation.
On July 11, Officers received a report of an assault which had occurred in the 2800 block of Kessler in which a known suspect assaulted and choked the victim. The victim did not report until the following day due to her injuries. The suspect has not been located as of the time of this report but the incident is under investigation.
On July 12, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 1900 block of Lamar Avenue for an equipment violation and made contact with the driver, Jason Edward Stewart (35), and Catherine Alicia Clowers (43) of Garvin Oklahoma. A warrant check revealed that Stewart was wanted on a DWI charge out of Denton County Texas. Stewart was arrested on the warrant. As the officer spoke with Clowers, he detected the odor of marijuana. Clowers admitted to having smoked marijuana in the vehicle, “A few days ago”. A search was conducted on the vehicle based on this information. Methamphetamine and several prescription drugs were found in the vehicle. Clowers claimed all of the narcotics and stated she did not have prescriptions for the medications. Clowers was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance. Both subjects were booked without incident and later taken to Lamar County Jail.
On July 12, an officer stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of NE 25th and made contact with the driver, Chance Dakota Hicks (17). Hicks was found to be in possession of multiple THC vapes as well as marijuana and assorted narcotics paraphernalia including a kit commonly used to falsify a urine test. Hicks was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was transported without incident.
On July 12, Officers made contact with Torrance Meyon Robinson (43) for a vehicular violation in the 400 block of E. Houston St. Robinson consented to a pat down of his clothing and then began reaching into his pockets. He removed marijuana and other drug paraphernalia from his pockets. Robinson was ordered to stop reaching into his pockets but continued to do so. Officers attempted to handcuff Robinson for safety. Robinson removed a packet containing methamphetamine from his pocket and then began resisting the officers attempts. He was eventually taken into control but the methamphetamine could not be located on the scene. Robinson was later found to have placed the narcotics into his shorts. Robinson was later found to be in possession of another unrelated victim’s VA card and Social Security Card. Robinson was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Tampering with evidence, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana. He was booked and placed in jail.
On July 14, at approximately 04:30 am, an officers observed a subject in a hoodie acting in a suspicious manner in the 700 block of Bonham St. The subject was in the area of several businesses which had been burglarized in the past. The officer made contact with the subject who was identified as Melissa Jean Thornburgh (47). Thornburgh was found to be under the influence of some narcotic as she was mentally compromised and appeared to be seeing people who were not there. A consensual search of her person netted narcotics paraphernalia and illegal narcotics including fentanyl, marijuana, and methamphetamine. Thornburgh was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was processed without incident.
Officers made 47 traffic stops, 13 adult arrest, and answered 317 calls for service during this reporting period.
