Paris Police responded to a burglary of a vehicle in the 2600 block of N Main St at 10:06 A.M. on January 26, 2022. The victim reported that he had parked his Dodge pick-up on the parking lot the day before and had left it unlocked. The victim advised that when he checked on the vehicle today, he found that someone had stolen a pistol from the vehicle. The investigation continues.
Paris Police stopped a bicyclist in the 400 block of SE 16th St at 9:40 P.M. on January 26, 2022 for not displaying any lighting equipment. The cyclist, 45 year old Joe Dean Barnett, was found to have an outstanding Municipal Court warrant. Upon searching Barnett upon the arrest, he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. He was additionally charged with possession of a controlled substance. Barnett was placed in the city jail awaiting transfer to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris police stopped a vehicle for a defective brake light in the 1700 block of Hubbard St at 12:08 A.M. on January 27, 2022. The driver, Shawn Lee Gonzales, 45, of Brookston, Texas, was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Gonzales was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
