On Jan. 2 at 11:25, Officers responded to the 3400 block of Miller’s Place in regards to a stolen vehicle. The victim had left his 2006 Dodge truck parked unlocked in front of his residence the previous evening and the truck was now missing. The victim advised that he had a spare key to the truck in the glove box. Since numerous vehicles were burglarized in the area it is believed that the suspects found the key and stole the vehicle. The vehicle was located shortly after 1700 hours in the 2400 block of W. Cherry St. A witness advised she had heard a vehicle revving it’s engine at approximately 0300 that morning and had seen the stuck vehicle after she got up today. Witness had seen a social media post by the victim and realized the vehicle was stolen. The owner of the vehicle was notified and came with a wrecker and collected his vehicle after it was processed for evidence. Suspects were later arrested in another case, See Below.
On Jan. 2 at 6 a.m., Officers of the Paris Police Department and assigned to the NE Texas Auto Theft Task force were notified of a stolen 2022 Ford Bronco from Hugo Oklahoma. Information was received that the vehicle had been in the Paris area. Officers were on the lookout for the vehicle, but it was not located at that time. At approximately 20:30 hours, officers received information that the vehicle was in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Fitzhugh. The vehicle was located at an apartment complex in the area and placed under observation. Soon afterwards, officers observed the vehicle to be attempting to leave the complex and conducted a stop on the vehicle. At that time the driver and a passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Both subjects were pursued on foot an the driver, identified as Isaiah Trevon Oneal (22) was taken into custody by Paris Police Officers. With assistance of Lamar County Sheriff’s Department personnel and a Lamar County Sheriff’s Department operated Drone, the other suspect, Chris Dwayne Brooks (24) was located and taken into custody. An inventory of the recovered stolen Bronco located several sets of keys, including a key belonging to a Dodge Ram pickup which had been stolen and abandoned recently. Also located was clothing which appeared to be the same clothing worn by a suspect in an attempted burglary of a business during the nighttime hours of January 2. Evidence was collected and suspects were transported to the Police Department for processing. Charges were as follows: Oneal-Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, Warrant for Criminal Mischief and several class C municipal warrants. Brooks-Evading Arrest or Detention.
