On Dec. 31, at 12:56 Officers responded to Wal-Mart in reference to a theft. They met store personnel who informed them that Sydney Cowling Nguyen (59) had been caught switching tags on items and then after paying the false (lower) price, attempting to leave the store. A warrant check revealed that Nguyen had an outstanding warrant for Theft over $100.00. A criminal history revealed that she had three or more previous theft convictions. She was arrested and charged with Felony Theft , Less than $2500.00 with two or more prior convictions.
On Jan. 1, a victim reported a theft of vehicle from the 1900 block of Lamar Avenue. The victim confirmed that they had left the vehicle running. Officers collected evidence at the scene leading them to believe that the suspect was probably Marshall Allen Fox (46). Officers were directed to be on the lookout for the vehicle, a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe. The vehicle was located in the Cunningham by Constable Travis Rhodes, recovered, and then returned to the owner. Officers made contact with Fox as well as another witness who confirmed that Fox had taken the vehicle without permission. Fox was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
On Jan. 1, Officers responded to an assault call in the 1000 block of W. Campbell. A victim advised that they had been assaulted by a family member by the suspect, Kendall Dion Scott (35) striking the victim in the face. Officers observed physical evidence of the assault. Scott was still on the scene and was taken into custody for Injury to an Elderly or Disabled Individual (Family) a Felony.
On Jan. 2, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of W Sherman for an expired registration. They made contact with the driver, Braylon Jacoby Johnson (33). Officers detected the smell of Marijuana in the vehicle and Johnson advised that he had been smoking marijuana and presented officers with an ash tray with a small amount of marijuana residue. A subsequent search of the vehicle netted a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine which had narcotics residue still present. Johnson was arrested for on view possession of methamphetamine. A subsequent search of Johnson revealed a baggie of methamphetamine in his wallet. Johnson denied any knowledge of the pipe or the methamphetamine in his wallet. He was charged with on view Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Officers made 67 traffic stops, 12 adult arrest, and answered 181 calls for service for this reporting period.
