On Feb. 7, a Credit Card Abuse was reported in the 2100 block of E. Cherry. The victim advised that known suspects had stolen her new credit card from her mailbox and had, after activating the card, used it several times without permission. The identity of the suspects is known and the investigation is ongoing.
On Feb. 8, Officers responded to a disturbance in the 2300 block of E. Cherry. Upon arrival they made contact with a 41 year old victim who advised that Davina Chianti Franklin (48) had assaulted them by choking them. Officers made contact with Franklin, who confirmed that she had, in fact, choked the victim. Franklin also advised officers that she was in possession of narcotics paraphernalia. When officers entered Franklin’s purse to recover the paraphernalia they located narcotics. Franklin was arrested and charged with Assault/Impeding Breath, a Felony, as well as Possession of a Controlled Substance. She was booked without incident.
On Feb. 8, an officer made contact with Darryl Wayne Hedrick (40) in the 300 block of W. Houston after he observed him acting in an erratic manner. Hedrick was punching and kicking at the air in the middle of the street and not moving for vehicles. Hedrick was given a warning to stay out of traffic and released. Later the same officer observed Hedrick in the 800 block of W. Shiloh, running from one side of the road to another, again in traffic. When the officer initiated contact, Hedrick fled into a wooded area. Additional officers arrived and Hedrick was located in the wooded area and taken into custody. Hedrick admitted to being under the influence of methamphetamine. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Hedrick was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Public Intoxication. He was booked without incident.
On Feb. 8, Officers responded to a disturbance with shots fired in the 1100 block of NE 28th. They made contact with two subjects who advised them that Tonya Lynett Lewis (51) had assaulted and then fired a handgun at the 36 year old male victim. A handgun was located in the yard and secured. When Lewis observed officers on the scene, she attempted to evade contact by running inside the residence and locking the door. Officers stopped her and she was detained until further information was gained. After the officers completed interviewing witnesses and evidence collection, Lewis was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. It was later learned that Lewis had a previous felony conviction for Assault. She was then charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. She was processed and taken to county jail.
Officers made 71 traffic stops, 14 adult arrest, and answered 300 calls for service during this reporting period.
