On Feb. 7, Officers of the Paris Police Criminal Investigation Unit and Auto Theft Task Force responded to a Burglary in Progress in the 800 block of Clarksville St. They entered the building, which is vacant through a broken window and located Adam Troy Payne (42) of Reno, in the process of removing building materials. Payne did not have permission to be on the property or to take anything. Payne was arrested for Burglary of a Building, Theft of Materials, and Unlawful Use of a Criminal Instrument. He was booked without incident.
On Feb. 8, Officers contacted Marcus Lorenzo Johnson (39) of Paris in the 100 block of NE 5th where he was walking in the middle of the road wearing dark clothing When approached, Johnson dropped a baggie containing narcotics then continued walking away. He was detained but denied knowledge of the narcotics. Johnson was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance. He was booked without issue.
On Feb. 9, Officers were notified of a Theft in the 3800 block of Lamar Avenue in which a suspect stole over 300.00 worth of merchandise and did not pay when leaving the store. The subject had been picked up by a secondary suspect outside the store. Later, on 02/10, The reporting officer observed a vehicle matching the suspect description in the 2000 block of Lamar and stopped it for a traffic violation. The driver was identified as Justin Kenny Horne (30). The passenger gave a fictitious name but was identified as Rikki De’Lane L’Orchid Johnson (26) of Paris. A search of the vehicle revealed narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Horne was arrested for Possession of controlled substance and failure to display a driver license. Johnson was arrested on outstanding warrants from both the City of Paris and Lamar County Sheriff’s Office. She was also charged with Possession of Controlled Substance, Failure to Identify as a Fugitive From Justice and the theft from the original call. This charge was Theft under 2500.00 with 2 prior charges of Theft. Both were booked and placed in jail. The vehicle was impounded.
On Feb. 9, Officers were notified of a Theft of Vehicle in the 700 block of 3rd SW. The victim reported that her 2017 Nissan Altima had been stolen. The victim had left the keys in the vehicle the night before. The victim said the car was up to date on payments and had not been repossessed. Officers entered the car into Nationwide Data Base as stolen. A short time after the report was taken, the reporting officer was advised that the owner had located the vehicle at Wade Park. The officer arrived and found that the vehicle was located without damage at the park. Some items were stolen from the vehicle including stuffed animals and change. The investigation is ongoing. The vehicle was released to the owner.
On Feb. 9, a Burglary of a Business was reported in the 200 block of 2nd SW. Suspects broke a window with an object and stolen computer components from the buildings. Suspects entered several offices and went through files but nothing else could be confirmed as stolen. The incident is under investigation.
Officers made 32 traffic stops, 8 adult arrest, and answered 235 calls for service for this reporting period.
