On Feb. 5, Paris officers and detectives made a traffic stop in the 500 block of 17th Street SE on a vehicle reported stolen by the Wise County Sheriff’s Office. While searching the vehicle, officers located a purse belonging to the driver, Samantha Jolene Cason (37). A prescription medication without a label, and an ID and multiple debit cards not belonging to Cason, were found in the bag. Cason was arrested and booked into the Paris jail on felony unauthorized use of a vehicle, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, and class A misdemeanor possession of dangerous drug.
On Feb. 5, a Paris Officer responded to a welfare concern in the 1800 block of Lamar Avenue. Officers found a male subject lying on the ground, semi-responsive and drooling. A bag found in the subject’s area was searched for identification. Once he was more responsive, the subject confirmed the bag was his. A crystal-like substance, identified as methamphetamine, was located in the bag. The subject, Dana Samwell Carmichael (44), refused medical treatment and was taken into custody for felony possession of a controlled substance.
On Feb. 5, While collecting evidence from a sexual assault reported the previous day, an officer discovered that the suspect had explicit messages on his phone towards underage children. The investigation is ongoing.
On Feb. 5, Officers responded to the 200 block of SE 26th Street to a report of a Burglary of a Habitation. A male stated that his ex-girlfriend had entered the residence and stole household furniture. The investigation will continue.
On Feb. 5, a firearm theft was reported at a residence in the 1400 block of East Washington Street. The victim stated that they met someone online and provided them with a place to stay for the night. After the subject left, the victim found that the gun was missing. The firearm was entered into NCIC as stolen.
On Feb. 5, an officer responded to a burglary of a habitation call in the 1800 block of NE Loop 286. The victim stated that an unknown suspect entered the residence through a rear window and stole $100 in change. The incident is under investigation.
On Feb. 6, a a motor vehicle burglary was reported in the 700 block of SE 38th Street. The victim stated that he took his dog out to use the restroom and noticed his truck had been rummaged through. The victim told officers that a pistol and an extra magazine were missing from the vehicle. The firearm was entered as stolen into NCIC.
On February 5, The Paris Police Department responded to 61 Calls for Service, made 3 Adult Arrest, and Initiated 17 Traffic Stops.
