Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 2900 block of NE Loop 286 at 4:16 P.M. on February 3, 2023 for a traffic violation. The driver, 44 year old Bradley Neil Upchurch, of Deport, Texas, was found to have an outstanding parole violation warrant. Upchurch is currently on parole for a possession of a controlled substance conviction. Upchurch was arrested and later placed in the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to a fraud in the 2400 block of N Main St at 4:39 P.M. on February 3, 2023. The manager reported that on February 2, 2023, an unknown white male entered the store and purchased three cordless tools, a bag of pretzles, and a cap. The male used what was later determined to be a fraudulent check to pay for the items. On this date, another white male entered the store and returned the tools and was given cash back. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police met with a victim of a fraud at 7:58 P.M. on February 3, 2023 who reported that they had accidentally left their wallet in a co-workers vehicle the day before and when they checked the balance on a debit card on this date, found that about $90 was taken from the balance. The investigation continues.
Paris Police responded to a disturbance in the 1700 block of W Walker St at 8:15 A.M. on February 4, 2023. Officers spoke with a female who reported that her boyfriend, 53 year old Tom Franklin Morris, had choked her during an argument. Morris was arrested and charged with assault of a family member by impeding breathing. Morris was later placed in the Lamar County jail.
Paris Police stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of Bonham St at 12:02 A.M. on January 6, 2023 for a defective tail light. The driver, 39 year old Julio Cesar Rodriguez, of Princeton, Texas, was found to have an outstanding felony probation violation warrant out of Collin County, Texas. The warrant stemmed from a deadly conduct (discharging firearm) conviction. Rodriguez was arrested and later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
Paris Police responded to 187 calls for service and arrested 17 persons over the weekend ending at midnight on February 5, 2023.
