On Feb. 21, an officer was traveling westbound in the 2200 block of NW Loop 286 when he was passed by a vehicle driving at an excessively high speed. The officer attempted to catch and stop the vehicle at which time the vehicle accelerated, intentionally attempting to evade the stop. The officer pursued the vehicle to the intersection of SW Loop 286 and Sage Trail, where the driver attempted to turn onto Sage Trail, lost control of his vehicle and slid into the ditch. The driver, identified as Zykerian Jermond Richardson (17), was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest in a Motor Vehicle, a Felony. Richardson was transported to the Police Department for booking. There were no injuries reported.
On Feb. 23, Paris Police were called to the 900 block of Clarksville in reference to a theft. Information was that a male suspect had stolen items by concealing them in his pants and left the store without paying for them. A vehicle description as well as a thorough description of the suspect were provided. The officer observed the described vehicle as well as the suspect in the 500 block of E. Price and made contact. The suspect Darnell Mayfield (64) of Paris, displayed a receipt from the store but the officer located more items in the vehicle (meat products) which had been reported as stolen. Mayfield was arrested for theft. It was discovered that he had multiple prior convictions for theft. He was charged with Theft under 2500.00 with 2 or more convictions, a Felony.
Officers made 71 traffic stops, 10 adult arrest, and answered 240 calls for service for this reporting period.
