On Feb. 1, 03:04 AM An officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle that he had observed in the 3500 block of NE Loop to be traveling with no lighting. The vehicle failed to stop for approximately 55 seconds, and continued driving to the 1000 block of NE 34th St. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Ashton Cortez Williams (18) of Paris. A passenger in the vehicle, Jose Francisco Campos (18) was also identified and claimed ownership of the car. During a pat down of Williams, he was found to be attempting to conceal a nicotine vaping device behind his belt buckle. Campos was also removed from the vehicle for safety sake and it was observed that both subjects smelled of an intoxicating beverage and admitted to having been drinking at a local night club. Officers searched the vehicle for contraband and located an empty wine bottle beneath the passenger seat as well as numerous (11) illegal THC vaping cartridges located in the vehicle. Both subjects denied ownership of the narcotics at the scene. Due to the large amount of cartridges located, both subjects were arrested and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance and transferred to the city jail for booking. During the booking process, officers found Campos to be in possession of a substance that was identified as cocaine. Campos was subsequently charged with a second count of Possession of a Controlled Substance as well as having a Prohibited Substance in a Correctional Facility. Both were later transferred to county jail.
On Jan. 29, An officer with the Northeast Texas Auto Theft Task Force attempted to stop a vehicle which he suspected was transporting a known suspect, Zachary Lee Cole (30) of Paris, in the 2200 block of NW 19th. It was known that Cole had been involved in several thefts and burglaries in the Paris area and had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The driver of the vehicle did not stop immediately but continued driving for several blocks. The officer observed the rear seat passenger, later identified as Cole, to throw a small bag out the window. The driver stopped shortly thereafter. Lamar County Deputies arrived and assisted the officer in detaining several subjects, including Cole. Cole was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Paris Police Detectives recovered the discarded object from the roadside and it was identified as methamphetamine. Cole was arrested and charged with Burglary, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering or Fabrication of Evidence. During Interviews he confessed to several burglaries in the area and a large amount of stolen property, primarily tools, from numerous incidents was recovered. Cole was placed in county jail.
On Jan. 30, Officers of the Paris Police Patrol and Criminal Investigations Division arrested Lane Kade House (27) of Paris in the 3600 block of N. Main. House was arrested for two counts of Felony Deadly Conduct. The arrest stem from January 27th incidents in which House allegedly fired shots into two Paris nightclubs, one in the 2800 block of NE Loop 286 and another in the 1700 block of N. Main St. No one was reported as injured in the two incidents, however; substantial property damage was documented and reported. Search warrants were executed for House’s vehicle and residence. Ammunition, firearms, and accessories were seized as evidence. House was booked and placed in Lamar County Jail.
On Jan. 31, Officers stopped Rhonda Nadyne Thacker (54) in the 3600 block of Lamar Avenue for a traffic violation. Upon stopping Thacker it was discovered she was in the company of a 65 year old male subject who was under protection of a Protective Order forbidding Thacker from being around him. The male stated he was there voluntarily and was not in any danger. Thacker was found to have violated the order on two prior occasions in the past two months. She was arrested for Violation of a Protective Order (Enhanced) a Felony.
Officers made 105 traffic stops, 22 adult arrest, and answered 278 calls for service during this reporting period.
