Paris Police spoke with a victim of an identity theft at 12:50 P.M. on December 6, 2022. The victim reported that their e-mail account had been hacked about 3 months ago and they advised that they received an e-mail from the hacker threatening to expose them. The victim also reported that the suspect(s) had used the e-mail account to purchase airline tickets using the victim’s earned miles. The incident is under investigation.
Tana Lynn Washington, 53, of Paris, was arrested in the 2200 block of W Cherry St at 4:38 P.M. on December 6, 2022 on a felony warrant charging her with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The warrant stemmed from a September investigation where it is alleged that she assaulted a person with a baseball bat. Washington was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail.
At 1:52 A.M. on December 6, 2022, Paris Police were notified that an emergency siren located in the 3300 block of Lamar Ave had been activated. The siren activated a second time at 2:08 A.M. Since no emergency weather was in the immediate area, and the siren had not been activated by the authorities, it was found that ants had invaded the electrical control box and had shorted out the circuit board. The siren had been deactivated until necessary repairs can be made.
