Wed. Dec. 18 at 1:42pm; a Community Service Officer spoke with a business associate of a business in the 600 block of North Main Street, about her name being forged onto three business checks. Three original checks, written to three separate businesses, had been altered. Payee on each of the three checks had been altered from the original business name to a personal name and the dollar amount of the same three checks, originally totaling $1,573.00 had been altered up to a total of $12,186.54. The bank determined the checks as fakes and closed the account. The incident will be further investigated.
Wed. Dec. 18 at 7:09pm; a manager in the 1500 block of Clarksville Street believed two males were working together, to attempt to commit a Fraud. One male approached an employee and asked if they accepted checks. Another male attempted to pay for his meal with a check belonging to a business, which was already signed and marked for mobile deposit. One male was detained in the general area and questioned but denied being a part of any type of fraud. The investigation is on-going.
Wed. Dec. 18 at 11:15pm; a Paris Officer responded to the 800 block of Deshong Drive and spoke with a victim of an assault. The victim had given a known subject eighty dollars ($80) earlier in the day to drive him to Bryant Texas to pick up his girlfriend and return them to Paris. The known subject never took the victim to Bryant, Texas, but ditched him at a store. Later in the day, near the intersection of NE 20th St. and Booth, the victim was struck in his face with a pair of brass knuckles by the known subject as he, the victim was attempting to regain the $80 dollars. A felony Aggravated Assault w/Deadly Weapon is under investigation.
Wed. Dec. 18, 2024: The Paris Police Department responded to 58 Calls for Service, made 3 Adult Arrest, and Initiated 14 Traffic Stops.
