On Dec. 2, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 1200 block of Bonham for the offense of driver and passenger not secured by safety belt. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Alexis Deonjaye Nicole Bateman (26) of Paris. Officers detected a strong smell of marijuana in the vehicle and the driver confessed that the two had been smoking marijuana earlier in the day. A search of the vehicle was conducted based on this information and THC wax, Marijuana, and a single Xanax pill were located in a the vehicle. Bateman claimed ownership of all narcotics. She was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance X 2 and Possession of Marijuana. Bateman was booked without incident.
On Dec. 2, the department received a complaint of a credit card abuse incident occurring over the past week. The victim advised he had allowed a subject to stay at his home for approximately three weeks when they had no place else to stay. The victim believes that the suspect took photographs of his credit cards and has been using the cards, having made over 1000.00 in unauthorized charges in the past several days. The identity of the suspect is known and the case is under investigation.
Officers made 24 traffic stops, 3 adult arrest, and answered 66 calls for service during this reporting period.
