Alex Stephens was visited by Paris Police Officer John Simpson and his wife, Tiffany, on Saturday, Oct. 22. Representatives with Paris EMS, Paris Fire Department, Paris Coffee and Spiderman (William Norris) also surprised the 6 year old with gifts, smiles, encouragement and tears.
Stephens, a Higgins Elementary student, is currently fighting brain cancer. At just 6 years old, he was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive brain cancer – an Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor (ATRT) of the brain.
What began as a request for police trinkets from Lamar County Adopt A Cop President Amanda Willows to give to Alex, grew, culminating in surprising Alex as Children’s Medical City Hospital in Dallas.
In addition to the First Responders, Billy and Melisa Norris and family accompanied Officer and Mrs. Simpson on the trip and got word to Spiderman (their son) who brought a big smile to Alex, his Mom, Michelle Dimond, Sister, Meredith and Brothers, ‘Wyatt and Tyler.
Alex is now a Commissioned Junior Police Officer for the City of Paris. He is fighting a heroes battle that a child should never have to, but with God’s help guiding his gifted doctors and lots of prayers, love and support, we will patiently await Alex’s recovery while keeping his family in our thoughts and prayers.
