On Aug. 23 at 4:23 p.m., An officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the 3200 block of S. Church Street for speeding in the school zone. As the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled in the vehicle at a high speed. The pursuit led officers through the city limits and then out Highway 271 N. towards the Powderly area. The driver continued to evade officers and refused to stop. Eventually a Lamar County Deputy utilized “Spike Strips” which disabled the vehicle. The driver then exited on foot and fled the vehicle. He was eventually taken into custody in a wooded area of Powderly. A package containing Cocaine was located where the suspect had fled and taken into evidence. The suspect, Carlos Ronnel Austin (42) was found to possibly under the influence of alcohol and had open containers of alcoholic beverages in his vehicle. Austin was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Evading Arrest in a Vehicle (a Felony), and Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance over 4 grams (Felony). He was processed without further incident.
On Aug. 23, Officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Clarksville St in regards to a disturbance. The officers met with Vicente Manzo Hernandez (29) who had just returned to the residence. Hernandez was driving a vehicle reported stolen on the previous date. The 2015 Cadillac belonged to an acquaintance of the suspect, who had called and said the suspect had a handgun and she was afraid he was going to harm her. Hernandez was observed to be under the influence of some narcotic based on physiological appearances. A search of the recovered stolen vehicle revealed a powder substance located within the passenger compartment. The substance was tested and found to contain Fentanyl. Hernandez was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a Felony.
On Aug. 24, Carson Tyler Thomson (23) was arrested and charged with Indecency with a Child after evidence was presented indicating that he had engaged in prohibited contact with a child under 14 years of age. The investigation is open and further charges may be sought. Due to the nature of the case, no further information is available.
On Aug. 24, Officers were sent to a series of disturbance calls in the 1300 block of 8th NE, “Booker T. Washington Homes”. They were given information that the suspect, Jazztavion Alexander Dayquaw Fuller (28) had gone to an apartment, entered without permission, and then assaulted a family member by striking them with his fist and kicking them. On the first occurrence, Fuller had left the scene and could not be located. Officers continued to respond to incidents between the victim and the suspect, and eventually located the suspect back at the location on 8th NE where he was attempting to force entry into the apartment. Officers located Fuller on the scene and placed him under arrest for Burglary of a Habitation due to his entry to the residence without permission and assaulting the victim. Other misdemeanor crimes were reported and may result in further arrest from this continuing incident.
On Aug. 24, Jeremy Lee Ricks (32) was arrested on a charge of Sexual Assault of a Child under 17 years of age. Ricks was arrested without incident. Since the incident is still under investigation, no further information will be released at the current time.
On Aug. 24, Officers arrested Migual Angel Roa (36) after he was stopped for a traffic violation in the 1900 block of Pine Bluff. Roa was found to be intoxicated. He failed Field Sobriety Test, had an open alcoholic beverage container in his vehicle and admitted to have been drinking. Roa was arrested for DWI and taken to PRMC for a blood draw. It was later found that Roa had two previous convictions for DWI. He was charged with Felony DWI and booked without incident.
On Aug. 24, Officers arrested Randall Lynn Cryer (46) after locating him in the 1800 block of Bonham St. Cryer was wanted on an offense of Theft of Property under 2500.00 with 2 or more previous arrest for Theft. Cryer’s arrest originated from an incident on July 29, 2024 when Cryer entered a local jewelry retailer and stole two rings valued at approximately 1000.00 total. Cryer was identified and a warrant had been sought for his arrest. He was processed without incident.
On Aug. 25, Officers came into contact with Fredrick Terrell Washington (34) in the 10 block of NE 25th after hearing a disturbance in the area. Washington was observed to pull a white baggie from his pocket. He was detained and the baggie’s contents were observed to be narcotics. Testing revealed the substance to be Cocaine. Washington was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and booked without incident.
On Aug. 25, Officers arrested Vince Eric Pesina (32) in the 900 block of W. Shiloh. Pesina was in the area and was checked during a random security check. Pesina claimed to have marijuana on his person. It was discovered that Pesina was in possession of methamphetamine. Pesina then fled on foot. He was pursued and taken into custody. During the arrest, Pesina resisted officers attempts to handcuff him by physically struggling and attempting to prevent officer getting his hands behind his back. He was charged with Possession of Narcotics, Evading Arrest on Foot, and Resisting Arrest.
On Aug. 25, Officers responded to a call of a theft of firearm. The victim’s were in the process of selling a firearm to an individual in the Wade’s Park area. They presented the firearm to the subject who then loaded it and took the gun without paying for it and reportedly pointed it at the victim’s. The suspect then left on foot. Officers made contact with the suspects family and the firearm was recovered. The case remains under investigation.
Officers made 20 traffic stops, 15 adult arrest, and answered 185 calls for service for this reporting period.
