On Friday morning, August 14, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Paris Police Department officers conducting patrol operations initiated a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Fitzhugh Avenue.
During the traffic stop, officers made contact with the driver and passenger and conducted a records check. The passenger was found to have outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Officers subsequently conducted a search of the vehicle, during which the driver was found to be in possession of more than one gram of methamphetamine.
The driver was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1/1-B, in an amount of 1–4 grams, a third-degree felony.
The driver was transported to the Paris City Jail and booked without incident. He was later transferred to the Lamar County Jail for further processing.
Officers made 33 traffic stops, 8 adult arrests, and answered 67 calls for service during this reporting period.
