On Mar. 30, Officers responded to the 1600 block of W. Houston in regards to a disturbance The victim advised that Charles Lewis Nichols (40) had choked her and struck her in the head with his fist. Nichols was on the scene and was contacted by officers within the residence. The victim advised that she had been awakened by Nichols striking her with his fist and then choking her until she “Thought she was going to die”. There was physical evidence which gave credence to the victim’s statement. Nichols was arrested for Assault of a Family Member by Impeding Breath and taken to county jail.
On Mar. 30, Officers were notified of an Animal Cruelty case in the 400 block of SW 13th. The reporting party advised that a known suspect left a female dog tied to a tree for multiple hours without food or water. The suspect then returned and left several nursing pups with the female and abandoned them, with the female still tied to the tree. The animals were taken into custody by Paris Animal Control. Officers investigated the incident and spoke with witnesses. The investigation will continue.
On Mar. 31, Officers were notified of a Terroristic Threat case and made contact with a subject in the 2200 block of E. Polk St. The subjects at the address informed officers of an Aggravated Assault that had occurred at another location. Officers received information that a known suspect had assaulted a family member in the 400 block of NE 42nd. The victim was in fear of retaliation and had not contacted police even though the assault had required medical attention. The victim advised she had been struck with a firearm in the face as well as being threatened by the suspect. The victim had been in fear of her life. Officers made contact with the victim and confirmed the incident by observing wounds to the victim. The case is under investigation at this time.
On Apr. 1, Officers responded to the 3100 block of Clarksville St in regards to an assault. The victim, had confronted her boyfriend about her suspicions of his seeing someone else at which time he began throwing her property out of her vehicle. The victim went into the apartment to recover some of her property and the suspect blocked the door, grabbed the victim and threw her on a bed. The suspect then began throwing the victim’s property onto them on the bed. The suspect had taken the victim’s phone and so she was unable to call for assistance and had to go to a nearby convenience store to use a phone. The suspect had left the scene prior to officers arrival. The victim advised she was pregnant, a fact which enhanced the offense to Felony level. The investigation is pending.
Officers made 18 traffic stops, 3 adult arrest, and answered 103 calls for service during this reporting period.
