Paris High School Choir students Nick Leija II, Nicholas Reed, and Rhea Tabora competed at Area Choir auditions in Carthage on Jan. 12.

Nicholas Reed claimed a 6th chair in the tenor section of the Small School All-State Mixed Choir.  The choir is comprised of 112 members from Class 1A-4A schools.

The choir will rehearse Feb. 13-15, directed by nationally recognized conductor, Dr. Jeffrey Ames. The choir will perform on Feb. 16, the closing day of the Texas Music Educators’ Association convention in San Antonio.

Reed said, “I never dreamed that I would actually make the all-state choir, even though that was one of three goals I wanted to achieve prior to graduating.”

All three students earned praise from PHS choir director Jan Blize for “representing Paris High School Choir extremely well in their auditions and their hard work, and their perseverance.”
