The Paris Fire Department responded to two unrelated fire calls shortly after 8:00 a.m., on Friday, October 31, one of which resulted in injuries to two people.
At approximately 8:11 a.m., the Paris Fire Department received a fire alarm call at Paris Regional Health, located at 865 Deshong Drive. Hospital maintenance personnel reported an actual fire in a rooftop construction area. All available Paris Fire units responded to the scene, and firefighters found that a small amount of building materials had caught fire but were out upon arrival. While firefighters were still on the rooftop investigating to ensure the fire had not spread, they received notification of a second fire call.
Dispatch advised fire units of a travel trailer fire near NE 6th and Price Streets. Responding fire units found a small RV trailer fully engulfed in flames. Two people had been in the trailer and stated they had been using the propane stovetop for heat, which later started the blaze. Both occupants were able to escape from the trailer on their own. One occupant had significant burns on several areas of their body, and the other was dealing with smoke inhalation.
Paris EMS treated and transported both victims to Paris Regional Health.
Based on observed evidence and statements from those at each fire scene, firefighters believe both fires to be accidental.
