Paris EMS last week donated 50 ceramic heaters to Lamar County Meals on Wheels to hand out to those who are needing some warmth this winter.

“Each year, we donate heaters to help not just our community organizations but residents as well,” said Paris paramedic supervisor Russell Thrasher.

The number of heaters that are purchased by Paris EMS is dependent on the previous years’ “Fill the Boot” campaign.

This year’s campaign returns Thurs Dec 12 through to Sat Dec 14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with paramedics stationed at all Walmart entrances

Last year Thrasher said they were able to raise just under $9,000 from locals dropping in what they could as they did their shopping at the local Walmart on Lamar Ave. This year they have set a goal of $10,000.

“Paris EMS uses 100 percent of the money collected during the annual collection to help Lamar County children and senior citizens,” said Thrasher.

Paris EMS has been raising money for local charities through their “Fill The Boot” campaign for over 25 years.
