Paris Chevrolet GMC recognized two local students on Monday by awarding $1,000 scholarships through the Texoma Chevy Scholarship Program, continuing its commitment to supporting education in the community.
Texoma Chevy Dealers awards $1,000 scholarships to students based on academic excellence and community involvement for higher education expenses, demonstrating its dedication to supporting education and the community.
Paris High School’s Blake Tabangcora and Trinity Christian Academy’s Aiden Thurman were both selected for the scholarship.
Tabangcora has maintained a position in the top 10% of his class, earning a 4.7 high school GPA and a 3.895 college GPA. He plans to attend Texas Tech University and major in kinesiology on the pre-physician assistant track.
“Throughout all of high school, I’ve been a member of the Paris High Band, Paris High Baseball Team, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Catgo, which is the male cheer squad for school events,” Tabangcora said in his application video.
He has also volunteered in the community with Our Lady of Victory Food Pantry, the Love Your Block Clean-Up event, the Paris Educational Foundation, the Paris Beautification Council, and the Boys and Girls Club.
Thurman, a Trinity Christian Academy student with a 4.0 GPA, plans to attend Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in the music industry.
In his application video, Thurman said he participates in Key Club and is part of his school’s worship team.
“My favorite high school memory is going on a kayaking trip down in Broken Bow,” Thurman said. “We were only supposed to go four miles, and we went eight instead. That was my favorite memory. Also because we got Chicken Express after.”
Thurman said the scholarship will help him continue to study music at OSU and “create good music for y’all.”
“Thank you Paris Chevrolet for awarding me a scholarship. I appreciate you supporting my music education.”
