On the chilly evening of Monday, October 11, North Lamar Independent School District (ISD) transformed into a hub of festive creativity as it hosted a Winter STEAM Night for elementary families.
Over 100 eager students, accompanied by their families, flocked to the event, turning it into a memorable celebration of learning and holiday cheer.
The heartwarming event featured a range of hands-on activities, with families crafting homemade ornaments that added a personal touch to the season. From Scrabble name ornaments to cherished handprint creations, the elementary students showcased their artistic flair while immersing themselves in the holiday spirit.
The true highlight of the evening, however, was the array of STEM activities that engaged young minds in exciting ways. Students eagerly embraced the challenge of constructing a light-up Christmas card using circuits, bringing a tech-savvy twist to the traditional holiday greetings. The snowball catapult station added an element of physics and engineering, as children learned while having a blast.
Adding to the festive atmosphere were members of the North Lamar Panther and Pantherette basketball teams, along with the Pantherette soccer team. These sports enthusiasts generously volunteered their time, guiding students through various activity stations and embodying the spirit of community collaboration.
As families navigated through the interactive stations, the aroma of hot cocoa filled the air, accompanied by a delightful spread of snacks to keep the energy high. The jovial presence of Santa and the Grinch added an extra layer of excitement, with children eagerly sharing their holiday wishes and taking memorable photos.
North Lamar ISD’s Winter STEAM Night not only showcased the district’s commitment to hands-on learning but also exemplified the power of community engagement. The event left a lasting impression on both students and their families, creating cherished memories and fostering a sense of togetherness during the festive season.
