North Lamar ISD recently welcomed students and their families to an enchanting Holiday STEAM Night, offering an evening filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and cherished family memories. With over 100 young Panthers in attendance, the event was a shining example of community engagement and the power of collaboration.
The family-friendly event featured more than 10 interactive stations where children had the opportunity to create homemade ornaments and participate in holiday-themed STEM games and projects. From designing unique holiday decorations to exploring science and math concepts through playful challenges, students were fully immersed in engaging, educational fun.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, special guests Santa Claus and The Grinch made memorable appearances, delighting children and families alike. Their presence added an extra layer of magic to an already exciting night.
North Lamar ISD athletes and artists played a vital role in making the event a success. Members of the North Lamar Panther Basketball team, Pantherette Basketball team, and Pantherette Soccer team, along with students from the NLHS Art Department, volunteered their time to assist children with their projects. Their involvement allowed parents to focus on connecting with their children and savoring the holiday spirit.
“Our goal was to show parents how simple it can be to do STEAM projects at home with their kids using everyday supplies,” said Melissa Allen, North Lamar ISD Parent-Family Engagement Director. “We wanted to inspire families to see that learning doesn’t have to be complicated to be meaningful and fun while incorporating some holiday fun.”
Holiday STEAM Night provided parents with practical ideas for at-home activities that foster curiosity and creativity. By demonstrating how to turn common household items into learning tools, the event empowered families to continue the exploration of STEAM concepts long after the night ended.
The success of Holiday STEAM Night is a testament to the strength of the North Lamar ISD community. With the support of student-athlete volunteers, art students, and caring educators, families were able to make lasting memories while exploring the wonder of science, technology, engineering, art, and math together.
As North Lamar ISD continues to prioritize student engagement and family involvement, events like Holiday STEAM Night highlight the district’s commitment to fostering a love of learning. The joy, creativity, and collaboration on display during the event will surely resonate with students and families for years to come.
