In celebration of Grandparents Day, Higgins Elementary and Aaron Parker Elementary opened their doors to welcome grandparents into classrooms for a heartwarming day of storytelling and reading.
Students were treated to special moments as their grandparents shared personal stories from their childhoods and read aloud from favorite books.
The event created a bridge between generations, giving students the opportunity to learn about life in the past while fostering a love for reading. Many classrooms were filled with laughter as grandparents recounted tales of growing up in a world very different from today’s, while students eagerly asked questions about what life was like when they were young.
At both Higgins and Aaron Parker Elementary, the event was part of the schools’ ongoing effort to create strong connections between families and the educational experience.
As grandparents read beloved stories and shared their memories, the students gained valuable lessons, not only about literature and history but also about the importance of family connections and storytelling traditions.
