The North Lamar Independent School District is announcing they will begin using a school visitor check-in system beginning Monday, March 11, 2019.

North Lamar Assistant Superintendent Dr. Angela Chadwick said, “After reviewing various options, the system chosen by North Lamar’s safety and the security team was the Raptor Visitor Management System. This system will better allow us to track visitors, contractors, volunteers, student check-in/out, and will provide for a safer and more monitored environment for the students and staff of North Lamar.”

Upon entering any North Lamar campus, all visitors will be asked to present a valid government-issued ID, which will be scanned into the system.

“We realize this will be a change in the way our parents and volunteers check into the campuses,” said North Lamar Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams.

“All visitors will be required to bring a driver’s license, or other government-issued identification, into the front office to be scanned into the system. Upon reading the ID, Raptor will check the national database to identify sexual offenders. No other data is gathered, and a copy of your ID is not maintained in the scanner, nor is it kept by the school. The scanning process is quick, easy, and user-friendly.”

Once the ID has been scanned and entry is approved, the system will create a unique badge that identifies the visitor, date, and purpose of the visit. All visitors will be required to wear the created badge in order to be allowed entrance into the school and to move to the area of the campus designated for the visit. Campus office staff will be available to assist each visitor/parent as needed.

Parents and community members interested in learning more about the visitor management system are encouraged to visit the Raptor Technologies website at www.raptorware.com.

“If you would like to visit with our district administrator about the check-in system, please give your contact information to the receptionist at the front desk of the campus you are visiting with a request to visit with NL Police Chief, Mike Boaz,” said Dr. Adams.

“NLISD welcomes any visitor feedback after having had the opportunity to interact with the new system.”

“The safety of NLISD students is our highest priority, and the Raptor Visitor Management System provides a consistent way to aid in keeping away people who may present a danger to our students,” said Chief Boaz.

All visitors must be scanned into the system and then obtain and wear the badge created for them. The visitor badges must be returned to the office at the conclusion of the visit.

“Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and support of enhancing school safety protocols in the North Lamar district,” said Chief Boaz.
