Nancy Norrell Walker, 94, passed away Wednesday, December 6th, 2023, in Paris, Texas. She was born July 21, 1929, to Glenna and Don Norell in Minter, Texas, graduating Deport High School in 1945. Nancy attended Paris Junior College before transferring to Texas Woman’s University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science in 1949, and later returned to graduate school and achieved a Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1977. She married Thomas W. Walker on July 5, 1952.
Nancy worked as a librarian at C.E. Byrd High School in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1949 to 1951. Nancy supported her husband’s Airforce career and worked as librarian for Ramey Air Force Base High School in Puerto Rico until 1964. Nancy and Tom relocated to the Denver, Colorado area in 1965 where Nancy served as an elementary librarian for the Cherry Creek School District until her retirement in 1988.
Nancy resided in the Denver, Colorado area for over 50 years. She greatly enjoyed traveling, reading, literature, southwestern art, and had a passion for the game of bridge. She was an active member of the Stratton Ridge Women’s Association and a 2-table bridge group in the Highlands Ranch Colorado area. Nancy’s greatest devotion and love were for her husband, Thomas, and their dogs who were like children to them throughout their 67 years of marriage.
Nancy and Tom moved back to Texas in 2019.
Nancy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas. She is survived by her brother Don Waylan Norrell and wife Patsy of Deport, niece Joy Cooper of Mt. Pleasant, nephew Gerald Norrell and wife Kristi of Paris and other extended family and friends.

Private entombment will be made at Meadowbrook Gardens, and a memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11th at Spring Lake Assisted Living, 750 N. Collegiate Dr., Paris, TX 75460, under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
