More than 331,000 Jeeps are being recalled as the rear coil springs may not be correctly installed and can detach while the vehicle is being driven.
According to the recall, the Jeep Grand Cherokee built between May 17 and May 31, 2023, and Grand Cherokee L models built between Dec. 5, 2020 and May 31, 2023, are affected.
Versions with air suspension are unaffected.
The NHTSA reported the read coil springs that detach from the vehicle while driving may results in a hazard to operators and occupants of other vehicles which can cause such vehicles to crash without prior warning and/or may results in injury to vulnerable road users.
The FCA US said it is aware of two customer assistance records, 17 warranty claims, and two field reports potentially related to the issue but is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to the issue.
