Each year, Meals on Wheels Red River Valley and Pittin’ & Grillin’ provide 200 meals to seniors in Lamar County on Christmas Eve.
Pittin’ & Grillin’ staff will prepare turkey, mac-n-cheese, green beans, and dessert, and they, along with the Meals on Wheels Staff and Board and nearly 100 volunteers, spend their Christmas Eve prepping and delivering those 200 meals. But they need the community’s help to continue this program.
Meals on Wheels Red River Valley is selling t-shirts to help cover the cost of these meals. Thanks to Paris Print Works, our online store is now open, and shirts will be available for sale until December 5th, 11:59 p.m.
The profit from each shirt sold will buy 2 seniors in Lamar County a meal on Christmas Eve. A meal costs approximately $2.50, so if you’d prefer to make a donation online, visit hrctexas.org or mail checks made out to HRC: P.O. Box 714, Paris, Texas 75461; be sure to put Christmas Eve on the memo line.
“This is one of our favorite events we do each year. Seeing so many people line up outside our kitchen on Christmas Eve just to get the chance to deliver a few meals, and then seeing the faces of our clients, it’s truly heartwarming. In most cases, the volunteer who delivers will be the only person our client sees on Christmas, so while it will take less than an hour of your day, it will mean the world to our clients.”
