Maxie Boyce “Max” Walker, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at his home.
Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. At Mr. Walker’s request, his ashes will be scattered at Twelve Mile Prairie in Oklahoma where he grew up.
Mr. Walker, the son of Harold Prescot Walker and Gracie Mae Tenpenny Walker, was born July 24, 1928, in Thomas, OK.
At a young age he enlisted in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. At the time of his enter into the military, he was courting a young woman in Durant, OK named Velma Beller. When he was honorably discharged from the military, Velma and her family had moved to Sacramento, CA thus he moved to Sacramento to continue his courtship of Velma. They were married in Sacramento, and Max began a career with Walgreens which spanned 23 years with 19 of those years being in management. He then began working for Raley’s Grocery Store, a chain of grocery stores on the west coast, until his retirement. Over the years he always had a garden, a cow, pigs, and goats. Max truly loved the farm. He and Velma then decided to move to Montana to be near her brothers. They lived there five years until Velma passed away. Max then moved back to Durant, OK where he met and married his second wife, Verlena. He loved country music and played the guitar. Max had a band, Too Long In The Saddle, which he enjoyed playing with. He was an avid sports fan, especially the San Francisco Giants and the San Francisco 49ers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Velma Beller Walker, his second wife, Verlena Walker, a son, Mike Walker, and two siblings, Dearis Walker and Norma Sue Fischering.
Survivors include five children, Ken Walker and wife Suzanne, Evelyn Walkerand husband Bruce Pimental, Cherylnn Walker, Marilyn Walker, and Teresa Jensen, grandchildren, Melissa Walker, Steven Walker, Jason Walker, Nicholas Walker, Matthew Walker, Corey Walker, Eric Walker, Damien Sandoval, Clayton Sandoval, Taylor Sandoval, Aaron Anderson, Greg Anderson, Charlotte Jensen, Carl Jensen, Emma Cubic, and Elvis Cubic, several great grandchildren, and two siblings, John Kincher and Peggy Sue Walker along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
