Mary Jo (Offutt) Brumley, 87, of Boswell, OK, passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, at Kings Daughter and Sons Care Center in Durant, OK where she was under the care of Centric Hospice Care.
Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Gentry officiating. Burial will be made in Tuggle Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Brumley, the daughter of Demetress Minor Offutt and Bessie Alice McMillan Offutt, was born May 23, 1938, in Blossom, TX.
Her childhood was spent in Boswell, OK where she graduated from Boswell High School as Salutatorian in 1956. Her first husband, Charles Gilliland, who was the father of her children, passed away in 2001. Her second husband, John Brumley, passed away in 2008.
Mary Jo’s career spanned many years working for Texas Instruments, United Health Care, and Travelers Insurance as a claims reviewer.
Until her health failed, she enjoyed attending First Baptist Church in Boswell. Her best friend was a “good book”. She loved libraries and was a prolific reader. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She enjoyed spending time with them and all her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Charles Michael Gilliland, a grandson, Justin Cox, a great granddaughter, Hope Marie Chitty, a sister, Juanita “Sis” Pierce, three brothers, Wesley Offutt, Haskell Offutt, and Franklin Offutt, and her beloved dog, Okie.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Rawls, two daughters, Kim Rogers and husband Jimmy and Debra Sawyers, five grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
