Marshall Henry Kent, Jr., 88, of Paris, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Spring Lake Assisted Living, with his wife, Wanda, at his side.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26th, at the Evergreen Chapel with Rev. Chad Fleming & Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Levi Nichols will serve as the eulogist. The family will receive friends at the Evergreen Chapel from 9:30 a.m. Thursday until service time. Military honors will be rendered by the U. S. Army.
Mr. Kent, the son of Marshall H. Kent, Sr. & Winnie Brinson Kent, was born Jan. 14, 1930, in the Ambia Community of Lamar County. He attended Paris Schools and in 1947, he joined the U. S. Army serving in the Army & the Army National Guard until 1985. His career in dairy & milk delivery spanned many years. He worked for Dowdy’s Dairy, Lamar Creamery, Foremost and Cabell’s.
He loved antique cars and his passion was Ford Mustangs. He wrote a column on stats from auto auctions for the magazine “Old Cars Weekly”.
Marshall attended Immanuel Baptist Church as a young man and later attended the United Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mattie VanHoose. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Holloway Kent, whom he married on Sept. 17, 1949, building SIXTY-NINE YEARS of family and memories, four children; Jency Cole & husband Danny of Paris, Larry Kent & wife Mary of Heber City, UT, Susie Newberry & husband Jerry of Paris and Liz Spencer & husband Stanley of Paris, grandchildren; Chad Cole & wife Renee, Todd Cole & wife Mendy, Zak Kent & wife Trisha, Shana Vickers & husband Kris, Cody Newberry & wife Desiree, Levi Nichols & girlfriend Kassadi Davis, Jessica Martin & husband Trevor and Dylan Spencer & wife Sarah, fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild along with a plethora of friends.
